I’m going to say something, and it might sound a little crazy. Ready? For the next 6 weeks, you are going to eat colorful, delicious, amazing foods and release weight. Pretty amazing, right? I’m sure you’re ready to see what those foods are, but I’m not there yet.
Before we can begin releasing weight forever, we need to address the elephant in the room. As women, and as humans, we are susceptible to emotional eating. For some, that means they eat when they are emotional. For others, it means they don’t, but they make up for it when they release the emotional disturbance. Either way, I want you to imagine a world in which you no longer respond to emotions through food.
Since we were children, food has been a source of angst. Either we weren’t given enough and feel the need to make up for that now, or we were given food as a pacifier and overfed. Maybe you were somewhere in the middle, but you found yourself controlling food when everything else seemed beyond your control. Food is only one of the sources of our nourishment. Our minds need fed as well. And that is what makes this course so much different from others you have tried before.
I’m a big fan of data and facts, so bear with me for another survey. This one is designed to help you see that there is more to your food choices than meets the eye.
Now that you have completed your Circle of Life, what did you learn about yourself? Many times we think we know what is really bothering us, when in fact, the thing that keeps us up at night is simply a side effect of the real issue. So reflect in the comments. What do you need to spend more time doing? Or maybe who do you need to spend more time with? Is it something you could ask for help? Now, go back to day 1 and the intentions you set for yourself. Do you see any connections with the Circle of Life and the intentions you set for yourself?
Book Study: Bright Line Eating
Today begins our Book Study. One of the most profound lessons I have learned about eating is that our brains have a limited capacity for will power. Every day we make hundreds of decisions that use up every ounce of will power. As you read through this book, you will begin to understand how to become more in tune with what your body needs, carefully plan what you are going to eat for each meal the night before you actually eat it, and how to reactivate your dopamine receptor cells so they return to normal.
This process gets easier and easier each day, until it is automated, and your body can begin receiving the signal that you are full. You will stop craving sugar, start feeling more energy, and find that you are able to focus and regulate emotions naturally. Soon, you will stop wondering if this whole process is extreme and start feeling the freedom from food addiction. How amazing will it feel when your stress levels lower, your sleep improves, your emotions regulate? What will you do with your willpower once you have mastered eating?
Read Part I of Bright Line Eating this week. Keep sticky notes or margin notes as you read and be prepared to discuss it for a little while Friday during our scheduled group coaching time!
